Baby Mao is at the Vets

This is Baby Mao's Mummy.

Unfortunately, Baby can't post tonight because he is spending the evening at the Vets.

It all started on Saturday - Baby Mao was out all day and wouldn't eat anything when he came in. This is not like the little porker at all - he usually eats me out of house and home, despite his diminutive appearance!

Sunday - he disappeared all day and I spent the day out searching for him. Finally he jumped over the wall having spent a lot of time asleep in next door's greenhouse.

He still wasn't eating or drinking so I syringed some water into his mouth which went down REALLY well with him! I have the scratches to prove it!

Today there was no improvement so I rushed him to our vet who is keeping him in on a drip tonight and running blood tests. She says he may just have had a cold because his throat seems tender and sore and his temperature is up slightly - the cold may have turned into an infection of some sort.

He kept making retching sounds at his food and licking his lips as though he had a nasty taste in his mouth! I have no idea why but I am sure the vets will find out what is wrong.

He howled all the way to the vets office and even more when we arrived. Somewhat amusingly, when the vet took his temperature, he - how can I put this - 'fluffed' and the most nauseating smell drifted throughout the entire building! It was really rather embarrassing!

The vet is confident that it is nothing serious, he isn't even two years old yet and is pretty healthy in all other respects.

I'll get the results tomorrow at 11:00 am but in the meantime, please purr for Baby Mao because I know he will be throwing the mother of all temper tantrums!!

I do hope the staff have strong stomachs when they clean his litter tray tomorrow!

I'll be sure to keep you all posted and will pass on all of your purrs and hugs.

Yours appreciatively,

Baby Mao's Mummy

Baby Mao, You have to get well. So do whatever the vet tells you and let mom dose you with medications if necessary. But you stop worrying your mom, okay?

oh Baby Mao, you get all better soon. Do whatever the VET says so you can be back home forcing your cuteness onto Yao-lin. Many healing purrs coming your way.

Bendrix thinks you should stink up the whole VETs office while you're there so they'll always remember you.

Mummy, we are all hoping that Baby Mao gets over this really quickly, and that perhaps it is just a cold as you mentioned or maybe just an upset tummy from eating something that he shouldn't have. I am sending prayers and Sabrina, Sam and Simon are sending purrs.

Poor Baby, I hope he feels better right away. I'm relieved that the vet doesn't thinnk it's anything serious. Still, it's hard to be away from home at the vets overnight.

OH Well THIS will just not do (doo doo! HA!)
This is not fun for anyone, most especially the cage cleaners at the vets, as well as the other overnight lodgers.
I will be sure to check back tomorrow for the happy update.

Baby Mao, I'm sorry you are feeling so terrible and I've been away so long. I'll be purring for you.

On another note, I am highly impressed by how well you "fluff". Altho I may or may not be ladylike, I'd like to learn that pawesome skill, I can think of a bothersome bro who I'd like to keep away from me from time to time...

Get well, my meezer furriend!!

Dear Baby Mao's Mummy, have you checked to see if You-Lin dared Baby Mao to eat something really yucky? I suspect that may well be the truth behind this and that as soon as it has passed through him and into the nearest hazardous waste disposal site all will be well! ;) Do the vets staff have their HazMat suits on and breathing apparatus? If not maybe you should issue and Island wide warning to make sure it's sealed off from the Main Land until the noxious substance is contained and properly disposed of... ;)

We shall purr that Baby Mao and the vets staff get past this upsetting situation fast as D'boy is heading to the Island in just 2 weeks time!

Purrs,
