Diagnosis: Food Poisoning!

This is the Human Slave.

I dashed to the vet after work and went to visit Baby. In his 'cell', with a bandaged arm attached to a drip, he cut quite the pathetic figure! He saw me, stared at me with his big blue eyes and then HISSSSSSED pure venom at me! I was devastated!

I opened the door and luckily he soon returned to his usual affectionate self - the vet said that he has been extremely vocal and has voiced his displeasure exceptionally well! Apparently he had diarrhea all night last night but today has settled down and is recovering nicely.

The vet says she thinks it was a really bad case of feline food poisoning - at this point I felt obliged to explain about Baby Mao's night time trips to next door's rubbish bins and how he regularly returns with KFC, naan bread, curried chicken etc etc - a skill taught to him by Yao-Lin!

The vet chuckled and agreed that this was the most likely cause of his illness. Whatever he ate, it made him very ill but thankfully he is on the mend now.

I can pick him up tomorrow evening after work but he has to stay indoors for three days.

I'll be off to the shops tomorrow to buy some lamb chops and steak for a special welcome home dinner for him. I miss my baby!

Thank you SO MUCH for your positive purrs! I really do believe in the power of positive purring - I've seen it work wonders across the cat blogosphere and I can't thank you enough for your loving comments!

I'll be sure to get Baby Mao to blog as soon as he is home, I imagine he will have quite a tail to tell!

Many thanks and much love to all

The Human Slave xx

Baby Mao how on earth could you like curry?? Are you sure Yao-lin wasn't directing you to the "bad foods"? You're a lucky fellow to get lamb chops as a welcome home, I get nothing tasty ever. Sorry you hissed at your mom but I understand, you're at the VET you never know who or what is going to prod you!

Glad to hear you're getting much better!!

Baby Mao, we're glad they found out what was wrong with you and you're on the mend now. Eating trash out of other people's bins is not a good idea. We don't think you should do it again.

Oh Baby Mao...digging thru the trash? Really...that is most undignified. Now you know not to trust Yao-lin when he shows you stuff like this. Glad you're feeling better.

Mao your mum feeds you good stuff, stay out of the leftover rubbish bins. There is a reason the beans tossed it out in the first place.

Baby Mao, we are very sorry to hear you had food poisoning! Maybe you should stay indoors all the time? We do, and we don't mind at all! Sending lots of healing purrs your way!

Aha, so I was right! Baby Mao's sickness was caused by Yao-Lin daring him to eat something extremely yucky and Baby Mao being the sweet little stinky cat that he is, doing as his big bother (eer brother) told him to do... ;) I do hope that the toxic waste containment unit has fully cleaned up the contents of his litter box and decontaminated the surrounding area to be sure! ;)

I shall purr that Baby Mao has learned his lesson and will no longer listen to Yao-Lin when he suggests such exotic meals again and that he is fully fixed after this one, ready to return and cause havoc in Yao-Lin's peaceful realm yet again! :)

Purrs,
Ramses

Oh, I only just found out about your food poisoning Baby Mao, you poor little thing! I don't know why you and Yao-Lin have to go trash-canning when your human feeds you such nice foods at home! Ollie and William both liked a little bit of mild curry but they only got a small quantity fresh from our plates. Get well soon stinky - erm, I mean, sweetie:) xxx
